| " The Bahamas For Bahamians " The Bahamian Nationalist believes in a truly Free and Independent Commonwealth of the Bahamas, as the best environment for the growth and development of Bahamians. The Nationalist considers that Bahamian values, traditions and beliefs are unique. The Bahamas must continue along a path of development directed at the continuation of the Bahamas as a sovereign nation, whose people continue to strive to direct their own destiny in today's world. The Bahamian Nationalist's views on critical aspects of National policy: 1. Immigration Policy: The Bahamas needs to effectively control all its borders to preserve the Bahamas for Bahamians. Review of all existing work permits to plan a training time frame for Bahamian takeover of all local jobs. An effective immigration/Defense force base in Inagua to stop illegal immigration from the South East. Zero tolerance for sham job advertising. An interim proper work exchange for needed categories of immigrant workers, with a total two year maximum term for any one worker. 2. Economic policy, Free Enterprise, with promotion of private sector growth, and reduction of public sector. A more pro Bahamian shift of the current imbalance between the foreign investor and the native Bahamian. A twenty year plan to provide a More Diversified Bahamian Economy, with accent on investments in modern techniques of agriculture and fisheries, with development of seabed mining. 3. A foreign policy based in alliances with similar Democratic states that guarantee the Rule of Law, Judicial independence, Freedom of the Press, and mutual assistance and defense. 4. Deferral of any further consideration of political or economic union with Caribbean states for a minimum period of twenty years. Internal development of the Bahamas is our main priority, and such union would be disastrous to our development as a nation. Normal diplomatic interaction only. It is vital that we maintain the maximum possible control over our destiny while we progress through this stage of our growth. 5. A Pro-Environmental Preservation Policy to maintain the unrivalled pristine beauty of the Bahamas. Support of all relevant environmental protecting treaties, and institution of alternative energy as a priority. 6. A Pro-Life policy and a commitment to family values consistent with Christian Principles, as declared in the Preamble to our Constitution. Respect for the sanctity of Marriage as between a man and a woman. 7. A Land Reform Policy: Resolution of all 'generation' property disputes via a specific 'Land Court'. Lease only to non-nationals, with repossession for breach of lease conditions. We must secure Bahamian Land for our inevitable population growth, and we must honor the trusteeship of it for future Bahamians. 8. The growing National Debt must be reversed, with its retirement under our twenty year plan. The aim must be to produce a balanced budget. There must be an end to excessive government spending on projects that ought to be financed by the private sector. 9. Improved Internal Security and a more aggressive fight against crime by the use of joint police and defense force efforts, strengthening of local police units, compulsory police cadet training of all youth between the ages of fourteen and seventeen. Increase in the number of courts, judges and magistrates and their support staff, to improve the processing of court cases. 10.Support for a balanced system of Private Health Care funded by private insurance, running side by side with a Public system of Quality Care for those lacking Private insurance. Continuation of traditional Government Public Health programs such as Environmental Health and Immunization. 11. A Comprehensive Modern National Youth Program for all youth between age fourteen and seventeen in positive community service, citizenship education, disaster preparedness training, character development, practical life skills and greater linkage with our land and marine resources. 12. Education for the development of a balanced and diversified Bahamas, where both skills and vocational training are given equal emphasis with academic pursuits. Social Promotion will be immediately ended, and curriculum reform consistent with our proposals above immediately commenced with noted educators. 13. Improved delivery of public services by the addition of the watchdog office of the Ombudsman to provide a cost effective channel by which citizens can challenge poorly delivered public services. Immediate Passage of a Patient Rights Statute, and Restoration of the Specialist Coroner's Court. 14. Constitutional Education for all, via school and adult education programs as a preliminary step to constitutional reform. True Local Government, including New Providence, with provision for financial autonomy of Local Government Council units by island tax allotment to local government councils. 15. The recognition that WE THE NATIVES ARE THE INHERITORS AND SUCCESSORS TO THESE ISLANDS, AND NOT THE INVESTOR OR THE CARIBBEAN IMMIGRANT. |
2008 WILL BRING LITTLE RELIEF FOR GRAND BAHAMIANS ALTHOUGH THEY HAVE VOTED IN THE FNM! THE GINN SCHEME IS MORE TROUBLE THAN IT IS WORTH. THE BAHAMIAN NATIONALIST IS INTERESTED IN FREEPORT RETURNING TO 100% BAHAMIAN OWNERSHIP AND CONTROL. FREEPORT IS STILL A COMPANY TOWN, MAKING ITS OWN LAWS AND COLLECTING ITS OWN TAXES FOR OUTSIDE INTERESTS, IT IS NOT, AND NEVER HAS BEEN PROPERLY ACCOUNTABLE TO THE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY. THE FNM UNDER INGRAHAM WILL FAIL TO GET FREEPORT BACK! WE NEED A VIABLE AND PRO- NATIVE FREEPORT TO EASE THE POPULATION CRUSH OF NASSAU. ALL THESE FREPORT LIKE SO CALLED ANCHOR PROJECTS ARE BAD IN THE LONG TERM AS THEY END UP BEING HOSTILE TO THE NATIVE INTERESTS ! THEY BECOME THE PERSONAL FIFEDOMS OF WEALTHY EXPATS WHO RULE THEM AS IF THEY WERE KINGS AND QUEENS WITH DIVINE RIGHTS. IN THIS NEW CENTURY WE NEED BRING TO AN END ALL THE TRAPPINGS OF THE FOREIGN DOMINATION OF THE BAHAMAS OF THE LAST CENTURY, NOT INTRODUCE NEW OVERLORDS. WHY MUST OUR SO CALLED LEADERS THINK THAT THE ONLY WAY FORWARD IS TO GRANT SOVEREIGNTY TO OUTSIDERS, ALLOW THEM TO SELL OUR LAND SO THAT THEY CAN MAKE MONEY, GIVE THEM POWER TO ENSLAVE AND TO DOMINATE OUR PEOPLE? IT IS TIME TO END THIS SLAVE MINDSET. YOU NEED BETTER LEADERSHIP, BNP LEADERSHIP! |
THE FNM WILL NEVER SOLVE THE LAND PROBLEM IN OUR FAVOR.
Many families remain impoverished despite their claim to many acres of generation property. They ought to have been able to use their land to finance their aspirations. REFORM OF GENERATION LAND would ensure that Bahamians entitled can obtain good title to and use their land. Our land today is regularly stolen by clever manipulation of the Quieting of Titles Act! Investors get easy access to government land and make a fortune by resale of this land to other foreigners, at prices that Bahamians can never hope to pay. The land is being lost to us forever. There is an urgent need for the remaining generation land to be settled now on the Bahamians entitled to it. THIS IS A CRITICAL ISSUE THAT SHOULD LONG HAVE BEEN RESOLVED IN 1967! AT THE CURRENT RATE OF LOSS OF BAHAMIAN LAND BY THE TIME OUR PEOPLE WAKE UP FULLY TO THE DANGER IT WILL BE TOO LATE! NOBODY WILL KNOW WHERE EXACTLY THE BOUNDARIES OF THE GENERATION LANDS ARE! THE BAHAMIAN PEOPLE NEED TO BECOME MILITANT IN THEIR DEMAND THAT THE SALE OF OUR LAND CEASE IMMEDIATELY! |
THE NATIONALIST SAYS THAT CRIME HAS NOW BECOME UNCONTROLLABLE!
Crime is a multi-headed monster. The education system has to be reformed and show its effect before any real impact can be made on crime. Immigration has to be controlled before any real change can be seen on crime, Sham job advertising, whereby expatriates get the best jobs have to stop before we can control crime. The church has to get serious and stop playing to its political gallery before we can control crime. Parents have to become the real role model in the lives of their children before we can control crime. This minister has been set up to fail. He does not control the factors that will continue the high rate of crime. He cannot end the congestion in New ProVidence, halt drug trafficking, or stop the importation of guns into this country. He does not control the solution to the citizenship issue. All that the Ingraham government will do is to play with the figures, and hope that the spin they put on them can continue to fool the gullible. Crime is growing to a level where it threatens our very existence, and now it is almost too late. It will take a bipartisan effort to control the problem that crime poses to our very survival as a country. We are only a stage away from the situation that exists in Jamaica, where crime is out of control, and a chronic major problem that threatens its very survival. |
| BAHAMIAN NATIONALIST'S PROPOSALS REGARDING LAND REFORM! 1. A SPECIFIC LAND COURT WILL BE SET UP TO HEAR ALL APPLICATIONS REGARDING GENERATION PROPERTY IN THE FAMILY ISLANDS TO AWARD TITLE TO THE CORRECT OWNER BEFORE ALL THE PROOF OF OWNERSHIP DIES WITH THE GENERATION THAT IS PASSING ON, AND WHO KNOW THE HISTORY OF TH E LAND. THIS MUST BE DONE BEFORE ALL KNOWLEDGE OF THE LAND IS BURIED WITH OUR PARENTS. 2. PASS A SPECIFIC LAND LAW THAT INSTEAD OF SALE, LEASE OF LAND ONLY TO NON- BAHAMIANS, WITH REPOSSESSION CLAUSES AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION CLAUSES WHICH IF VIOLATED WOULD ALLOW THE LAND TO BE REPOSSESSED BY THE GOVERNMENT OR PRIVATE LANDLORD. 3. REPLACE THE LAND RECORDING SYSTEM WITH A PROPER LAND REGISTRY SYSTEM TO PREVENT DOUBLE FILING OF TITLES AND TO SIMPLIFY THE PROCESS OF TITLE RESEARCH. 4. AMEND THE QUIETING OF TITLES ACT TO REDUCE ITS USE BY THOSE WHO WANT TO STEAL THE LAND OF OTHERS AS IS THE CASE AT PRESENT, WHERE THIS STATUTE IS USED MISUSED, AND SQUATTERS EASILY GET HOLD OF LAND. THE PERIOD TO QUALIFY SHOULD BE INCREASED TO FORTY YEARS BEFORE QUIETING OF TITLE CAN BE CONSIDERED. THIS PROTECTS LAND BOUGH TO PASS TO GRANDCHILDREN. |
| BAHAMIAN NATIONALIST SAYS REDUCE OUR RELIANCE ON OIL NOW THE BAHAMAS MUST IMMEDIATELY REDUCE DEPENDENCE ON OIL GENERATED POWER BY INVESTING IN THE USE OF SOLAR AND WIND POWER FOR HOT WATER AND ELECTRICITY GENERATION. The Bahamas will continue to have a major ELECTRICITY CAUSED increase in the cost of living. Our electricity is Oil produced. Although the Bahamas has abundant Sun and Wind there has been no Government wise enough to harness these to reduce our dependence on Fossil Fuels. For years now the Nationalist has reduced his fuel bill in a major way by using Solar power for both Hot water heating, as well as Solar and wind power to produce a large part of his home daily electricity needs. This has been done using systems designed, installed and maintained by the Nationalist himself. The Bahamian Nationalist states that we need a National Plan to reduce our dependence on fossil Fuels. THERE ARE WAYS TO GREATLY CUT OUR HOME DEPENDENCE ON OIL GENERATED ELECTRICITY USING SOLAR POWER. ALL GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS SHOULD BY LAW USE SOLAR POWER TO CUT THE USE OF BEC OIL GENERATED POWER. FAMILY ISLANDS WITH UNUSED LAND AREAS CAN HAVE WIND GENERATORS INSTALLED TO CUT THEIR ENERGY BILL, AND PARTS OF ANDROS IS IDEALLY SUITED FOR TIDAL FLOW GENERATED POWER. THE COST OF OIL WILL ONLY GET WORSE AS THE OIL SUPPLY GETS LOWER. IT DOES MORE THAN ONLY INCREASE YOUR ELECTRICITY BILL. THE INCREASING COST OF SHIP FUEL OIL ADDS TO THE FREIGHT COST OF ALL THE IMPORTED FOOD INTO THIS COUNTRY. THIS IS WHY WE MUST TAKE STEPS AT THE SAME TIME TO RESTORE THE AGRICULTURE THAT FLOURISHED HERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PAST CENTURY, WHEN ISLANDS LIKE ELEUTHERA WERE TRULY A BREADBASKET, PRODUCING FOOD IN ABUNDANCE. THAT WAS BEFORE UNDER THE PLP WE WERE PERSUADED TO ABANDON THE LAND AND TO SEE WORK WITH OUR HANDS AS LACKING IN DIGNITY. WE HAVE LEARNED SINCE THAT TIME THAT WE MUST FEED OURSELVES! |
| BAHAMIAN NATIONALIST SAYS END SOCIAL PROMOTION IN OUR SCHOOLS There is an urgent need for radical reform of our Education system. No political party has yet had the guts or the wisdom to adopt the recommendations of the several education commissions and change the fundamental wrongs of our educational system. One major change which must be made immediately is to end social promotion in schools, and restore merit based promotion. Social promotion deliberately turns out students who have low educational achievements. It wastes teacher's time. It can only produce what it was designed to yield, Bahamians for the lower levels of the service industry, bahamians forever indebted to 'the investor'. This must stop! Social promotion is designed to promote ignorance and dependence, a cruel plan to maintain the dependency syndrome crippling our nation! |
